I do hate people.  Really.

Mostly because so many of them are just naturally stupid, or grab on to something and just will not freaking let it go.

Take for example this whole “Where was Obama born?” crap.  People didn’t like the Certificate of Live Birth.  Fine.  They just talked on and on and on about it for two years.

Finally, the Big Guy releases the “real” Birth Certificate (scanned from state files of course, not the one that was mailed to his Mom) and suddenly everyone is going over it like it’s the Zapruder film.

“ooh!, it has layers!”

“hey! the ink isn’t consistent with what a pen would do!”

I’ve got a little insight for all conspiracy theorists, so listen up.  I only want to say this once.

It simply doesn’t matter if Obama wasn’t born in this country.

It doesn’t matter if Kennedy was offed by the CIA, Cubans, or Woody Harrelson’s father.

9/11 was not an inside job.  Or maybe it was.  Doesn’t matter.

Why doesn’t any of this matter?  Because… and here’s the subtext of what I’m trying to convey here: there’s nothing you can do about it.  So relax.

You look like a loony boring everyone at work with your conspiracy theories.  They’re fun on X-Files and Fringe, but rather tiresome to those who have to share an office with you.

Obama is the President.  He will continue to be until he isn’t re-elected, or he puts in his eight years.  Nobody is going to get any challenge pushed through the courts.

The main reason?  Well, it has something to do with the notion that if the government is trying to put something past you, it will continue to look after it’s own best interest.  Whether O was or wasn’t born in HI, the government already knows and doesn’t care.  And it really doesn’t matter in your day-to-day life, unless you’re making your living by getting money from naive people concerned about the validity of his citizenship.

You’d have to be a grade-a douche to do that, so I’ll assume you’re not stealing from little old ladies and people concerned about the government coverup of the Y2K disaster.

If we can learn anything from cinema, remember the end to “Raiders of the Lost Ark”.  After all the Nazis melted (spoiler alert!) the government locked the Ark away in a warehouse, and (presumably) denied that it even existed.  If Stephen Speilberg knows not to believe anything the government says in a movie that came out 30 years ago, why haven’t the rest of us gotten the memo?

So please, for all of us, just stop.
